Two places so far I only know. Linda Mar (pacifica) South end of the beach before Taco Bell. Closer i believe Cowells at Santa Cruz near Steamers lane. Cowells is goon on a south swells and very low low tide. Linda Mar is also good to learn especially slow conditions. As for groups, i dunno any groups yet (i usually go alone). But I had one story from a single dad who's son's become friends to other surfers (same age, same learning experience or little bit more). After that they end up group to go surfing and even the parents are friends too. Plus always smiling and carefully try not to drop in to someone. Or not in the way when someone PADDEL into a wave.. always look out in the line up who's taking the waves and who's not. What board ur son's use? I'll keep my eye out for him. |

I live in Palo Alto and go out with my 9 year old son both north and south. The Jetty and Linda Mar are both 45 minutes from PA. Cowells is closer to an hour. It is easier and more crowded. Going to the Pleasure Point area is also good, 38th and sharks, not the hook. Conditions are pretty small recently, but I still wouldn't try the Lane (the place by the lighthouse). What size is his board? Can he consistently catch the waves by himself? My son is on a 6'4" soft foam board. I haven't found any group of kids that surf together. I think Santa Cruz and some other schools have surf teams. I don't think Paly or Gunn have surf teams. |

BTW, here's sample video of my son earlier this month.

If the levels are similar, maybe they could surf together one day despite the age difference? My son will be entering 4th grade in PA after the summer. |

I just got an email contact from Vergne of the University of Bordeaux (and they have big surfing scene out there too) and he would like many of us to participate in the study.
I have posted further details and also the survey form. He would like surfers who are in 20 to 40 years old range to participate. Please help him out the best you can!

| Is it "Lindamar" or "Linda Mar?"

Is it spelled "Lindamar" or "Linda Mar?"
I have just realized that there has been quite a bit of confusion as far as the Internet users looking for the term. Officially it is a two-word name, but something like 60% of the search population (i.e., more people) use the keyword "Lindamar" based on my recent research. If you are a surf shop owner or have other web sites related to the location, it may well be better for you to lean toward the single word version for your web site optimization strategy!
